Villareal on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Ray’s Drive Inn from noon to 3 PM. At this time the City of San Antonio will make a proclamation recognizing Ray’s Drive Inn.
About Arturo H. Lopez
Arthur Hernandez Lopez was called home to be with the Lord, on October 16, 2015 at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his loving siblings; Ray Lopez, Louis Lopez Jr., and Gloria Estrada. Ray owned Ray’s Drive-Inn, in 1956 and Arthur bought and operated, Ray’s since 1982, he was a great fanatic of the L.A. Lakers, Cowboys & Dodgers, he enjoyed watching sports; like boxing, football, basketball and also enjoyed antique cars. He will be greatly missed by all. Arthur is survived by his loving wife, of 52 years of marriage, Gloria Lopez, son John Louis Lopez (Kelly B.), daughter Maria Idalia Rambo (Stan), grandchildren; Joshua, Jeremiah, Sierra, Evan, Dana, Jamie, Lisa, siblings, Henry Lopez, Sonny, Lopez, Avelina Warrnett, Oralia Villanueva, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Trevino Funeral Home 226 Cupples Road, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 10:15 a.m. for an 11:00 a.m. Mass Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. All Services Conclude after mass.
About the Artist
Joe R. Villarreal — Born and still living in San Antonio, he has been creating art since the age of three. He has created and has been recognized for many of the cultural pieces he has painted. Oil paint has been his specialty medium to use and considers it the Cadillac of paint.
Some of his paintings were part of the PBS special, “The Mexican Americans” that aired in August 2000. One of his paintings was converted into a cartoon image which was used on a national show titled “King of the Hill”.
The president of UTSA, Richardo Romo unveiled the painting titled “Las Canicas” at USAA. One of his latest paintings is 6′ x 15′ feet and was created to adorn the halls of the new Texas A&M University in San Antonio.
Mr. Villarreal was also asked to paint a portrait of Mayor Ed Garza which has been added to the prestigious “Hall of Mayors” at City Hall here in San Antonio.
He is currently working on a cultural type sculpture that is going to be placed as public art here in the city of San Antonio. He donated an oil painting titled “HOPE” to the Children’s Miracle Network and unveiled it in Washington DC in 2014.
